Version 2: What Changed

The sequel expands the word catalogue to 730+, adds 200 animated scenes, and introduces the modding system. It also contains a scene we almost did not include. This is a note about that scene.

The Modding System

You can add your own words. This was the most requested feature, and it was the hardest to build — not technically, but philosophically. The machine was designed around a specific vocabulary. Opening it to outside input felt, at times, like a responsibility.

We built it anyway. Here is our request: use it carefully. Some words should not go into a machine that listens.

The Scene We Almost Didn't Include

There is a scene, accessible through a specific word combination that we will not publish, in which the machine produces something that is not a drink and she does not explain what it is.

We debated this scene for four months.

The argument against: it is too ambiguous. It does not resolve. It raises questions we are not prepared to answer in this version or possibly any version.

The argument for: that is exactly why it should exist.

The argument for won. We stand by the decision. We accept that some of you will find it unsettling.

We found it unsettling too. That felt like a reason to include it, not a reason to cut it.

What's Next

We are already working on what comes after Version 2. We cannot say much. We can say that there are words we found during development that did not make it into this release, and that we are still deciding what to do with them.

She has opinions about this. She always does.
